If you do a search on Briery Creek, you will see posts by Blackielee. He catches some very nice largemouth out of that lake.

The Bass in Briery may be the most well known, but the crappie and an odd variety of bream (I believe they're called crackers) could be the most fun fish to catch. Go to worsham grocery and take a look at the score board on the wall for huge bass and other misc fish. I live in the area and there are a few other spots to hit....Sandy River, not nearly as crowded....but not as many lunkers.....Buggs Island, excellent fishery....and their are plenty of private ponds/small lakes once you get to know the people in the area. Thanks a lot for the replies fellas.Someone I talked to last weekend (a local)said the lake holds some nice crappie,he said the biggest he ever caught was 4lbs6oz,17in.I was thinkin bull crappie but he was a genuine dude.Never made it to Worshams but that is on the listfor next visit. Its beautiful up there thats for sure .Just hope I can adjust to not being close to all this great saltwater fishing.[grin]Thanks again.

Go out there about an hour before sunset and take advantage of the bass that school up like stripers and bust shad on top of the water. Throw a fluke or top water and you'll be assured of catching one of them.

I went to school at Longwood and fished the lake quite often in the evenings.

Take a spare prop...........

Sandy river is less crowded, and easier on your prop. Good bass fishing in the channels and drop offs.

checkout the link...it talks about spring fishing at sandy river... i have to say, i only have a canoe right now, and only having access to a small part of each lake...we still caught a good supply of bass....

other than that.....you are moving to a great location for a bass fisherman to live....there are lots of options

gool luck and have fun

I fish both of the lakes but was wondering if anyone uses a kayak. I just got a Tarpon this yaer and love the fishing on the upper James and Backbay areas but wanted to try some bass action on Briery. Anyone done this? How was it?
