Hello there!, Just wondering if any one knows the currioman bay area good? It's below the 301 bridge on the potomac river in westmoreland county VA.
I'm new to kayak fishing, (Just purchased a liquid lodgic Stingray 14, And yes ..I know it's a rec kayak) and after using google earth (Great Program to map areas out ....and it's free!) I found a nice location with sandbars and it just seems like a good place to take a trip.
I'm looking for a camp site somewhere within that area, and of course a place to launch a small boat/kayak. I know there is westmoreland state park...but i would like to be closer to the currioman bay area.
And in addition, If I may plan a 3-4 day trip down the potomac, Is there any web-site I can go to that has VA state regulations reguarding camping /fires/and private property along the potomac river and it's shores?
I was planning on just taking a trip and stopping along the shore to setup camp and then cover more ground the next day (basic stuff). But i know there has to be some restrictions to prevent that.
Any help?
My thanks in advance!

Stingray,
Cant say I will be much help with the camping part except for the state park which is not far, but i can help you with the launch. There is a place called 'Currioman Landing' which is public. Its at the very end of a road(currioman rd i think) that goes to the bay area. While out, be aware if you beach on that Island('Sharks tooh island') that it is private property and people are supposed to have a permit to do so. There was a previous post on the Northern Neck board about that. Anyway, I have always thought about fishing that area from the kayak. From the shore there I used to catch some big croakers. Havnt been back since a certain unfortunate experience there, but I will one day. If you need better directions to the landing, I can help but google should do the trick for you.
