I havent gone freshwater fishing in nearly ten years but had an offer to fish a private pond of an ex-employer of mine. I have been out there trying to maintain water flow through the over flow since Ernesto came through and he told me that since I am there so much that I should try to do some fishing. He also told me I wouldnt be disappointed. So tonight I got the trolling motor and battery out and went down to check the dam. Once I saw that everything was flowing like it should I decided to see what was there. I had no bottom machine so I just cast to the edges. First fish would have been lucky to be a pound. the next was a different story though. I was throwing a bleeding shad rattle trap towards the dam and when I went to retrieve the line went zipping off to the right then back left. Boy what a fight. No way of knowing how much the thing weight but it was about 25 inches long and FAT. I ended catching 10 bass in an hour. I think I will take him up on his offer to fish it 'as much as I want' until he closes on the sale of the place. I now remember why I used to love bass so much.
