Overnighted in the Washington monday night into tuesday (10/2-3)

SLOW SLOW SLOW!

Fished mostly 40-50 fathoms by the tip, and the west wall, and also a drift in the deep along the 100 line - started off on a pot by the tip, then drift chunked down the line. Temps 68-69.7.

ZERO Tuna.... yep. All night, ZERO TUNA. Miserable way to cap the season.

We did however land a white in about 50 fa on the west wall at about 11:00. That was the one and only bite of the entire night.

Great ride out, pretty snotty for the first part of the night, but it laid down around 10:00 or so, and had flat seas for the rest of the night, and the ride home.

Should have fished outside the dog in 30 fa.

Oh well. The white was a first on our boat, so that was very cool. Great night on the water, and the first bill on the boat - good time had by all. (Fished with my brother and father, which is always a plus).

Shammy - nice talkin to you out there - how did you fare?

Sorry to hear about the slow bite. It looks like that water moved offshore. My buddy went to the 461 yesterday and saw the prettiest water of the yr and NOTHING but dolphin. He ended up coming in to the washington lumps and getting 1 out of 3 tuna bites. Said the lumps were loaded with tuna but he was out of time and the crew wanted to get back in.

Don't even think about putting her away. OI is a fun trip and a nice getaway to boot.

Terp - Haven't yet followed the fish south. Would be tempted to, though. Let me know if you ever need another hand on board.

What kills me is we got the big goose egg while there are tons of fish around to be caught! We also stopped by a scalloper about 35 miles off and gave it the ol' college try.... no dice. He was shucking underway, so we tried it 4-5 times, and ran home. Marked a few fish.

mako - I have been in constant contact with the scallopers. The Bluefins have been a no show. But I have a feeling that they will be around later in the month.

Mako, man, that stinks....sorry to hear about the slow bite. Thanks for the report though. Did you mark any bait? Did you have many squid in your lights?

We marked some bait, but not a whole lot. Best marks were in about 300-350 ft by the tip. We did have squid throughout the night. Not huge schools, but enough to be a nuisance to our baits - and enough to dip net a few. The live ones used for bait lasted alot longer. Man, those things are mean - - they'll eat their own kin sitting on a hook.

Yep. On the chunk. Dead squid.

We were just as surprised.
