FISHING NEWS: Six Year Old Lands His First Cobia

Six year old Tidal Fisher pulls in his fist ever cobia in Virginia's Chesapeake Bay. Tidal Fisher Joey Stratton writes, "We were fishing Saturday afternoon in an area near Back River Reef. The crew consisted of Tim, Amy and Lucas Hatok, Jackson Stratton and myself. We set up in 15’ of water, incoming tide and were fishing 2 live eels and 2 croaker. We were catching sharks, croaker, spot and roundheads most of the day which was enough to keep the attention of a 4 & 6 year old while chumming. The water temperature was 74 degrees and dirty from all the rain the night before. We were on our last gallon of chum and about to call it a day when the Baitrunner with a croaker starts running. Jackson got to the rod first and began to battle. It didn’t take long to net his first ever cobia (33”), so we took a few picturesand released it. He was excited, but I think he enjoyed catching sharksmore than anything. That will changein time when he starts paying for the eels. It was a great way to start off the cobia season."
