Great catching in North Carolina this past week. When the wind calmed down, anglers were able to pick up some nice fish offshore and inshore. Offshore, fishermen caught some yellowfin and blackfin tuna as well as wahoos. In the Outer Banks, the striper run has started and is already stronger than the past few years. Inshore, the standard catches of reds, flounder and trout have continued to come through. Best of luck on the water!

Saturday was a day for Stripers, but it seemed to be a "hit or miss" proposition. Either they caught them or they caught none. But, with high winds preventing Offshore boats from going out, Stripers or Rockfish, as they are also known, was the fish of the day. Joe Jenkins of Elizabeth City, NC caught a 42 pounder. Jacob Brewington of Bladenboro, NC caught a 36 lb Striper. With calmer winds today, we have 13 boats Offshore, 2 Inshore and 3 Nearshore boats out after whatever they can find. Check with us later and see what they come back with.

Now keep in mind, this story came from a Captain here at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Sam couldn'g go fishing today because of the excessive wind so he decided to go for a ride on the beach. In his travel up the beach he sees something stuck in a bed of grass. He stopped his truck and low and behold there's a nice rod and reel laying there with not a soul in sight. Upon picking up the rod there's nice size Striper on the end of the line. Yes, you can believe this Fish story, Affie weighed it in at 28#. Sam left the fishing center with a great big grin and fish for dinner.

What a beautiful day. Hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving. We had 3 charters offshore and 1 nearshore charter in the morning and afternoon. All of the offshore charters came back with their limits of yellowfin tuna. The morning nearshore boat went out in the ocean looking for stripers, not much luck there. The afternoon trip went out in the sound towards Manns Harbor and caught 3 stripers."

Lots of grass on Saturday, but stripers were caught. The most Stripers caught were reported on the south side of the Bridge. Have had no news today. I will have pictures tomorrow. The big boats did not go out yesterday. The nearshore boats caught Rocksfish. Lots of boats are out today. It is a beautiful day on the outer banks.

Old goldfinger is back. Sam Stokes, charter boat captain of the Fight-N-Lady was riding the beach very early morning when he saw a fish floundering in the surf. He picked the fish up out of the surf and it was attached to a broken rod and reel. Sam was the proud owner of a 38 lb Striper. There were a good number of anglers on the beach yesterday. They all were sand blasted, including me. I did not stay more than 30 minutes. Sunday is supposed to be a much better day. See you on the beach.

A few Stripers were caught from the sound on Turkey day. None from the nearshore boats. Limits of Tuna caught off shore. We fished ramp four and Dan Shockley caught a no keeper Drum and a keeper Flounder. That was it for our fishing crew. We had one person fishing Coquina and he said there was no action. The wind has switched to NWN at 16 kts right now. We will try again today. I love Holidays."
