    Outdoor recreation, natural resources generate billions of dollars, sustain local economies throughout Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.

    Outdoor recreation in coastal areas of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia drives an economy valued at close to $4 billion per year and supports tens of thousands of jobs, the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership disclosed in a report released last week.

    Virginia Striped Bass Fishing Reports

    A few pieces of fishing new this Monday morning. A guest piece from Capt. Sonney Forrest of Reel Relief Charters and the Solomons Charter Association with some thoughts about this years Maryland Trophy Striped Bass Season in his, "Where are the Fish" piece. Then a short update on what has become the largest Striped Bass fishing tournament in the world, the 2012 MSSA Spring Trophy Tournament. And a few headlines on fishing in other areas of the Mid Atlantic.

    First a tournament update. The Maryland Saltwater Sportsman Association 2012 Fishing Tournament ended yesterday afternoon and reported winner landed his 42.1lb striped bass on the last day. The results are unofficial until certified by the MSSA. Overall the report from Executive Dave Smith of MSSA is that everyone had good fun and the tournament went off with out a hitch. I'll post some pictures and the full unofficial results this week.

    There are a ton of Maryland fishing reports from the weekend on the Maryland Fishing Forum. Reports seems mixed, some had some really slow fishing over the three days, while others managed some good catching. From talking with anglers ...

    Chesapeake Bay Trophy Rockfish Season Fishing Reports

    Good weather around the Mid Atlantic Region over this past weekend provided anglers the opportunity to get out and catch a lot of fish from reading around the Tidal Fish forums.

    Starting at the top of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland anglers fishing the Susquehanna Flats have been having good luck with some big stripers now and again as that season comes to a close. Further down Maryland's Chesapeake anglers fishing the Trophy Rockfish season are having good luck from Love Point all the way down to the Solomons Island area. While trolling has been the hot ticket, light tackle anglers are getting into the action as well with decent catches.

    In Susquehanna River Fishing Part I, I wrote about the shad run and the dilemma that I face each spring trying to decide whether to fish for shad or white perch.
