Northern North Carolina Tidal Waters Fishing Reports (North Carolina line to Ocracoke)
Ocean:*Fishing was very limited in all modes with rough seas, ocean over-wash and limited access. Catches were fair with landings of blackfin and yellowfin tuna. Midrange success was very poor with limited access and absolutely nothing to report.*Near-shore boaters had no access to waters due to unfavorable conditions.
Inlets/Sounds/Bays:*Striped bass catches were fair at the
usual locations in Manns Harbor and Roanoke Sound.*Spotted seatrout, flounder, kingfish and a few assorted other species were caught throughout these waters, but opportunities were very few.

Piers/Shore:*Ocean over-wash and rough seas prevented shore anglers from fishing, for the most part. Pier anglers were pretty much the only ones able to actually access the ocean surf zone with poor to moderate success rates.*Striped bass and red drum were most common, with a mixed bag of species in much lesser amounts.

11-19-10: Really good blackfin tuna fishing and we also caught some yellowfins and wahoo. We had a yellowfin tuna weighed in at 72Lbs. Just a little further south of our fleet was outstanding yellowfin fishing

11-18-10: It was a good day overall offshore. Very good numbers of blackfin tuna with some size to them as well. Yellowfin fishing was fair. some boats did good some not as good. there were some nice wahoo caught and a good number of dolphin as well.

11-17-10: Only two boats made it off-shore today and had a good day. Scattered yellowfin, including a citation 75 pounder. They also caught 1 sailfish and a 75 pound white marlin and a limit of dolphin. Quite a few more boats going off- shore tomorrow so tune in for the fishing report.

11-16-10: A fair-good day fishing offshore. Nice weather in the morning with rain in the afternoon. The fleet brought back good numbers of blackfin tuna and scattered to fair numbers of yellowfin. Boats also had a coulple dolphin, a #42 wahoo and one sailfish. No boats inshore.

11-15-10: It was the first day our offshore boats could get out after the winds we been having. Fishing was slow. There was a few blackfin caught. Mathew Whaley from Concord, North Carolina caught a citation Blackfin. The weather looks great for the rest of the week, now if we could get the fish to cooperate.

11-13-10: No boats out inshore or offshore. Not much fishing to report. a couple of puppy drum around manteo bridge and blacks and puppys around the catwalk but more scattered than its been. water is a little more muddy than it has been inside the inlet as well. things should start getting back to normal in the next few days.

Central North Carolina Tidal Waters Fishing Reports (Ocracoke Inlet to Surf City)

Ocean: High winds and rough seas continued, leaving many boats at the dock. The few who managed to make it out reported a strong wahoo bite. Closer to shore, the king mackerel were biting with some regularity. Fishermen reported large catches around the shoals east of Cape Lookout, fishing with live baits or trolled cigar minnows. Bluefish action was also hot, with the fish biting anything thrown at them. Bottom fishing slowed beyond 10 miles, with the inside anglers reporting bluefish, black sea bass, flounder and pigfish.

Inlets/Sounds/Bays: The inlets produced large numbers of red drum, speckled trout, gray trout and flounder. Drum and flounder hit live and cut fish on the bottom, speckled trout responded well to live shrimp or gulp baits and gray trout hit live shrimp and cut baits. Some of the best fishing was reported in Beaufort and Bogue inlets, as well as in the turning basin in Morehead City. The sounds still produced fish, but nowhere near the numbers caught near the inlets. The creeks and rivers produced large speckled trout on MirrOLures and gulp baits.

Piers/Shore: Black drum, puppy drum, sea mullet, northern puffers, spot, speckled trout and flounder were all caught in high numbers. Bluefish were hitting on gotcha plugs and a few false albacore earlier in the week. Shore fishing was just as good, with a lot of red drum, gray trout and speckled trout coming off the jetties at Fort Macon.

Southern North Carolina Tidal Waters Fishing Reports (Surf City to North Carolina
    line)

Ocean: Offshore,*wahoo fishing remained productive, as most boats caught between three to five fish in the 30- to 50-pound range. Good numbers of sailfish were caught, along with some*blackfin tuna. Bottom fishing in the 100- to 120-foot-depth ranges produced limits of nice groupers, along with a wide*assortment of reef fish. King mackerel were caught in the 15- to 20-mile range. Near-shore reefs produced gray trout and flounder.
**
Inlets/Sounds/Bays: Almost all inshore anglers targeted speckled trout. Fishing was good for the most*part, but there were lots of undersized fish caught. Most fish were caught in or near area inlets. Live shrimp and*artificial baits, such as MirrOLures, were what most anglers used. Red drum and some keeper flounder were caught, along with the trout. Riches Inlet,*Masonboro Inlet, Carolina Beach Inlet and*Little River Inlet produced trout the past couple of weeks.*
    *
Piers/Shore: Fishing was good*on most piers the past couple of weeks. Large sea mullets, spots, speckled trout, red drum, and some keeper flounder were caught on a regular*basis. Surf anglers did well with sea mullets, the best catches coming from beaches in Onslow and Pender counties. Good numbers of*speckled trout showed up in the surf there, also.

    Have a good week fishing,
