We gave it a good effort today but it was tough sledding. Ended the day with about a dozen small Stripers and one 18" Speck. Despite the flies (we forgot the Off) and the tide running out against the wind, it was still good to be on the water in a very beautiful area of Delmarva. Attached are a few pics of our day. One of the Stripers we caught was loading up on small crabs. He was spitting them on the deck and when I looked down his throat he was full of them. The guy fishing off the land made a long ride in a Jon boat to get to his fishing area in the middle of the Bay. I hope he made it home ok because it got a little sporty late in the day. We also saw some dolphin/porpoise in about 2-3 ft of water. Never seen them so shallow. Finally, we saw Pete in the same area. I wonder if he was also getting hammered by the flys? We fished various plastics today...no bait.

Fished the river today from around 6:30am until around 1:00pm. I caught fish until I finally just got tired of catching fish. I don't think that has ever happened before. The perch are in the rocks above the old bridge piers. I am not going to say how may perch I caught but it was a bunch. Flourescent orange darts and silver Nungesser spoons were the hot bait for me but others were catching them on spinners and plastics. Everyone was catching perch-even a guy that waded out on the rocks from shore had a basket full. I also had six hickory shad and a white shad that probably weighed four or five pounds! I didn't expect the shad today at all, but I also had a lot of quick releases and others were also catching shad as well. I left the camera home today so naturally I landed the white shad and could have had a great picture of it. There were lots of heavy 10 inch plus perch today. They are about ready to spawn so this week or early next week will be the last for this years run.

I decided to target Croaker today. Headed out of Cockrell Creek at the mouth of the Great Wicomico. I was armed with Fishbites, squid and Food Lion shrimp. I cut the jumbo shrimp into nice bite size chunks. On my first drift I picked up a nice double including a fat 12 incher. Several more drifts produced nothing. So much for the theory that "once you catch one, you've found the school". I fished multiple G. Wicomico oyster beds. I then went out to the mouth of the river and tried my luck around 4-5 different pound nets. My total catch for 4 plus hours was 4 croaker. I guess you could say the Croaker are here. I just didn't find them in numbers.
