About the Show

Fishing is a hard life, and harder with bluefin stocks depleted. In Gloucester, Massachusetts, there's a special breed of fishermen. For generations they've used rod and reel to catch the elusive bluefin tuna. They depend on these fish for their livelihood, and the competition is brutal.

Over the next 10 weeks, the most skilled fishermen will set out in the frigid waters of the North Atlantic in hopes of catching the valuable bluefin tuna. When one bluefin can bring in as much as $20,000-they'll do whatever it takes to hook up.

I liked it allright. Loved the sounders. Gets my blood boiling. A lite up sounder is like a girl in a bikini. And have a ton of respect for those dudes. Yeah it's noot DC, but it's honest hard ass work. And the fish do themselves justice. Damn they hit like freight trains. Serious question, how much can a live herring cost? You better believe I would have one if I was going after a 10k fish. Probably 2 or 3. Sht, you already spent 3k.

Lol about the herring. I would like to know how fast they land these fish? Especially the 73_80" ones. I have seen some fish smoked will jignpoppin compared to the troll.the lattic acid plays a large part on the fishs price per pound. That fish was very iffy on 73". Seems like those captians were drama I hope they arent the best they got.

Interesting program. Reminded me of catching Bluefins behind the scallop draggers off Ocean City...They do hit hard! One thing I thought was abit hard to believe was the Capt I can't remember his name, boat name, "Hard Merchandise" only taking out 1 live bait? Three day trip, 1 live bait what the?..I also noticed a large Thresher hanging off/tied to his transom when Tuna.com went over to him, they didn't say/show anything about that....odd. That Thresher is worth something and they talk about all the expense to get out there no Tuna no money....Whats up with the older Capt always asking Tuna.com for numbers? They described him as the old veteran and now he's asking for numbers? They got 10 weeks to make their money for the year? They work 10 weeks and take the rest of the year off? The dragger taking off with the anchor, where was the follow up with the Coast Guard at the end of the show? I'll
continue to watch the program but I might find myself asking more questions versus learning anything about the fishery up there..........

150 lbs was proably the cored weight but either way, it was not a very impressive first show. Makes the whole cast seem like clowns. It was/is completly different out of here this winter.

I will watch it again for now but so far it was very disapointing. I guess it would be enertaining if I didn't know better so maybe the general public will appreciate it more. I do think it is cool that the wife is part of the one boats regular operation thus the reason they picked it I'm sure.

The old hag was good on the wheel in crunch time. i think they played up the tuna.com rivalry because there is nothing else to show. Makes you wonder if the dragger was told to pick the anchor etc... better than watching **** my wife makes me watch and with the end of basketball and into baseball I dont watch much sports so anything to keep me entertained before bed.

Did anyone catch the long range Tred Barta trip in the hydros? I missed it.

On the Tuna.com's website it says he runs charters and does alot of kite fishing with epic bites. I agree with HITNRUN about the first episode being somewhat disappointing and cheesy. If they incorporate some trolling/kite bites into the show it would go from an average show to a great show. I still want to see the episode with the clip from the intro where the guy is shown throwing the harpoon 20 feet at a bluefin...im betting it was just for tv but if he hits a tuna with it ill be impressed.

I finally watched the first 2 shows this weekend. I agree with everyone's assessment that drama in the show is pretty lame and does not do thier profession any justice. But it is always exciting stuff to see a Tiagra 130 start screaming with a big BFT on the other end of it. They must burn endless hours filming rods just sitting their waiting on a bite to be able to capture the reel screaming. I wish they would just focus on the fishing and less on the drama.

Yea whats up with that, I own this part of the ocean? I feel for tuna.com, when your on top everyone else wishes your boat sinks if you do not help them, wtf thats life, thats how it is, Im glad there showing the jealousy. Watching the other clowns pretend they know how to fish (funny s---) blaming there incompetence on anything and everyone, Hows the saying go 90% of the fish are caught by 10% of the fisherman?
