I can't understand why someone isn't catching a few stripers on the flats. Maybe they are not talking?
Anyway I keep reading reports from Sandy Hook & Raritan Bay. Fish up to 15lbs are being caught on Clams.
I think most are local fish. Also that the Hudson has a lot of spawning fish. I think less & less stripers are coming from the Susky flats. At one time it was the major spawning grounds.
Looking for opinions on this thought
I am going to try the flats in the next couple days. Maybe I can start something.
Les who did not catch a striper this year!
I am with ya on this BIGE.How do we post? i caught a ........ today. It was caught on ...........And was in the GENERAL AREA.............Hope this helps. Is this what they want?Just dont fill in any blanks or we are in trouble.
We should get a report or 2 today. Its nice and calm out. Ed's prolly gonna go out for a spin. I gotta go to work. I gotta work tomorrow too.
I'll get out next week though and let ya'll know where there at.
I talked to a guy today that caught 9 fish yesterday, on the flats from 12 #s to 28#s. He said he had tried lures and could not do any good and caught them on Herring that had been frozen.
Just got back. A few fish were caught on lures, not by me. I had a couple small ones whapin the jerkbait. Marked more fish than last week. Found 50F in one spot but the fish were in 47F. Water quality was good. Good luck this weekend, there def fish around.
hey its good to here good things. i have not posted much in recent years but get ready for now. i just sold my boat but im on to my next. i will bet anyone i think the fishing will be out of this world by 4/15. be thankful the water is clear for change.
schoolies indeed. . . but even they ain't real fired up about hitting my lures. Biggest concentration of marks I found was right at the southern boundary at Sandy Point. Looked real fishy there in about 48 degree water. Another batch of littluns off Rocky water almost 49 but only in a very small patch. Mostly found 47 degree water with no fish marks. Off color but not real muddy.
