I've been playing around with fiddler crabs for puppy drum bait and they love them. It's easy for me to get them on the ES but was wondering how I can keep a large # of them alive?

I'm always interested in any new ways to keep fiddlers alive. I took some fids & tried this. It didn't work. They were either barely alive or dead the next day. Unless they keep their fridge @ a diff. temp. than the normal setting.

Put em in a tub or old cooler with some news paper soaked in creek water and throw a little cat food in there. They will dig holes through the paper and stay alive for a long while.Key is to keep them out of the hot sun, somewhere shaded unless it is not real hot outside. They cant take the heat to well.I have kept them alive for over a month.

Keep them cool
pluck out the dead ones before and after work
news paper or egg crate works good for holding moisture for them to drink and climb on
and speaking of climbing, they are good at it, so choose the fiddler storage area carefully.
They also work decent when frozen, so don't be afraid to freeze them if your plans change and you know you won't be fishing for a while.
