Creel limits vary depending on whether the crabber is licensed or not - see Individual Crabbing information above.
2 crab pots from a private propoerty or pier or within 100 yds of shore and attached by line
I thought it was 100 feet but it is 100 yards................Gary
wtihout a license it's two in Virginia. I don't think it has to be attached to a pier in Virginia and pretty sure you don't have to use turtle guards(might be a good idea). You can buy rec pot license that lets you use 5 pots for $36 but it's only good from June 1 thru Sept. 15. You can find the regs here and check.
Also in VA if you and your buddy use a boat together and go out it is one Bu per vessel limit. If you both have 5 pot licenses it is still one Bu.
One Bu per person if you are crabbing from the shore. Same applies to 24 peeler crab rule.
