Good Job John (and Beth).....

Our last report for the season:
We made it got out for our last trip on the Pax this morning. It was a great short sleeve day on the water. Water temp was 56 and for the most part flat.
Now for the sad news. On the last trip you hope to hit it. Once in a while you do and there is other times you don't. Wel......
Did I say sad?
Beth and I hit it pretty good today. Didn't get out until almost 7:00 and finding a location I kept thinking about for the last couple of days wasn't to bad. We placed 9 traps just to see what was out there. I was just about ready to move to another area but picked up a 7 1/2' Placed some more traps around the area and started to pick up some nice dark Jimmies. At the end of the day we had at least 1 1/2 bushels of #1 male and 1/2 bushel #2. We threw back about 12 to 18 females, didn't need them to fill the baskets. I can't believe we threw back 18 to 24 small.
I ran 27 traps and 1200' trotline. I only wish I would have had the line out earlier. Didn't start the line until mid morning. One trip we had 1/2 bushel. Then the crabs started to drop off early.
Oh well, time to winterize
Try one more time. They are still out there
Sorry, Nothing in 14 - 16ft. All were caught in 17 - 19ft

Nice job Jonn,
I need to find some directions to the PAX for next year. Seems that is always the early and late spot.
John & Beth,
Glad your season ended on a good note.
We may try it once more if the Wx stays nice.
Wait a minute Jerry - What about this?

We soaked the line a few miles downriver from the Bridge at Benedict. Ran it twice in crystal clear water and did not see a crab.
Pulled the line and headed above the bridge in fromt of the power plant where we got 2+ Bu last week. Ran the line 3 times, dirtier water, 9 sub legal crabs, no keepers.
Pulled the line and placed it in the freezer for the spring season.
The fat lady sang beautifully today. It's going to be a very long winter.[sad]

I saw you passing Walmart yesterday morning, going north with the boat at 9:48am and knew it couldn't be good.
Plans change.
The line is still baited and in the freezer. If crabs are still available, I'll find time to try to get a couple Bu.
Yesterday I should have found a much deeper place to lay the lines. If the weather holds I might give it another try. Wanna go?

Jerry, weather, wind wise Tuesday looks like it might draw the Antman out there again[grin]
.....PAX this time......Traps only.....If you don't make it out before then I'll let you know if something is still moving down there...for me anyway......
If you get out before me.......Good Luck!
Tony
Last night, Sunday, we steamed up the 2 bushel from Saturday. Those crabs were some of the best if not the best crabs we had all year. Only a couple were light the rest were heavy and sweet in flavor. I know that the end is in sight but you owe to yourself to give it one more time if you can.
We could have sold the crabs at the ramp at Len's but we decided that these guys were ours to enjoy and enjoy we did.
Well, enough for now, Beth just called down to me to get my rear end upstairs to pick some crabs for the freezer and a little for me.
Good luck if you go .
