Default Anchoring off the Harbor Break Water ??

I would like to try Taugtog fishing at the Delaware Harbor Breakwater Wall. Can someone share the anchoring technical details. How to you secure a line to the wall, and do you drop an anchor off the both ends of the boat. Also, any recommendations for a tackle shop in the area, I,m traveling from the Wilmington area
Thanks in advance for any information.

Lewes is the closest to the outer wall. It is really, at least, a 2 man job to set up. You should search around the Del sites for a full tutorial. (saltfish.net and cafelocale)
The quick answer is that you set your anchor straight out from the wall. (far enough to be past the submerged rocks) Then back in with a disposable item on a disposable line and throw it into the rocks till it catches. Sounds easy, right? It can be impossible depending on the weather. I always advise using biodegradable stuff, like rebar or something else that will rust away. I use hemp rope. Cheap and will disintergate.
The best answer is to find someone to go with you who has done it before. Good luck Granpa

Disposable, scrap iron anchors are the answer.

I set the bow anchor about 150' off the wall, and then back down to the wall to within a few feet ( as close as you dare ) to set the stern anchor.

Pay out the bow anchor rode to help with backing down onto the wall.

It's easiest to get set up during slack tide.

You will probably be able to recover the bow anchor, but the stern anchor will most likely get fouled in the rocks.

Thanks to both Granpafish, and Smoothbore 54. Sounds like I got my question answered. Also the tip about slack tide was a very good point. Well now we wait fro the right dayand some hardy mates to give this a try.

on the stern anchor if you loop the line though it bring back to the other end and tie a knot secure to the cleat, when you are done un-tie the knot and you can get all your line back leave the anchor in the rocks, for the anchor I use a 1lb coffee can drill
( 4) 3/8 holes though the side of the can across from each other at the bottom slide 2 piece's of 3/8 rebar though the holes add cement eyelet in the top for the rope, throw it into the rocks move it around till it falls in between them...good luck
