BFT fishing question VB.......

ok got a few replys from the hoo post. Was wondering if anyone BFT fished off VB in late December? I am fishing the 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th and was wondering if it was worth a shot at some big BFT anywhere out there. Would love to have some feedback here. I don't want to waste time draggin baits through bluefish but then again you never know. Anyone caught em around new years....anyone else want to give it a shot?

The state NC record was broken on Monday 875# and many other nice fish were caught. Come down South and see how it is done. Showed some guys up here and they have had success with the technique.

What area have the fish been in? Would like to give it a try maybe next week and just wondering where might be a good place to start. I would be coming out of OI and wondering if I can make the trip in a day or should I come down to Hatteras the day before. I am assuming somewhere off of Ocracoke. How much water they been in

This Time Of The Year Most People Are Fishing Off Morhead City At Cape Lookout Or Down Off The Frying Pan Shoals Out Of Southport. I Got A Call From A Buddy Of Mine That They Are Doing Pretty Well Down Off Of Southport Right Now. Some Years They Move Past Morehead And Go Down To Around Southport. Other Years They Have A Slow Bite Down In Southern Nc And The Hatteras Bite Is On. It Looks Though That The Better Bite Is Going To Be Down South. Plus The Seas Are Often Times A Little Better Down South As The Stream Is A Little Further Out From The Coast. There Is A Lot Of Good Fishing Info On The Subject On Sportfisherman.com. There Are A Lot Of Commercial Guys That Are Reporting On This. Nc Wateman And The Hulltruth Have A Lot Of Guys On It As Well. Lots Of Good Videos, Saftey Topics.

Connor, If You Are Planning On Doing It, There Is A 500 Dollar Commercial License You Can Buy To Sell The Fish Down There (i Think) Not Sure Whether Or Not That Is The Resident Price.

There are still some here. The 100-200 pounders. A 150 lb fish was brought into Rudee on Sunday. Caught on a Stretch 30.

Sorry For The Long Response About Down South. Yes They Area Out Here, But It Is A Crap Shoot. I Have Been Out 3 Times And Nada. Seen A Few One Day, But They Sound Really Early. Yuo Will Do A Lot Of Searching. If It Were Me I Would Start Out At The Hotdog And Work My Way By The Triangle To The Tip Of The Fingers. That Is A Lot Of Water To Comb, But That Is What It Takes. I Have Not Seen Them Thick. The Fish Around Here Are Much Smaller. I Have Caught The Scoolies A Few Time Before Out Of Here, But It Is Definately Hit Or Miss. They Key Over The Past Few Years Has Been To Get Out There Early And If You Don't See Them Or Mark Them, Don't Wait Your Time. One Other Option Is Chunking At The Fingers. The Water Out There Looks To Still Be In The Upper 50's Low 60's. Good Luck And Let Us Know.

P.s. I Would Go Sword Fishing If The Weather Is Good!!!! Boy That Was Fun Last Week. Everything Else This Winter Will Be Anti-climatic From Here On.

what is the perfect water temp for bft? what are they in at morehead???

BFT tuna go where the bait is. One day they are in 58 degree water next 70 degree water. The temp has not made a difference, but the bait does.

Thursday the fish were caught in 58 degree water. The next day they were in 63 degree water.

On the Commercial License there is a more than just buying a license. you need all the safety equipment as well. This year they are taking fish away as fast as they can for safety violation. The part that sucks is, is that they are taking the fish and then turing around and auctioning them off the the fish brokers for profit for the state.
