for the bay its hard to beat the senators. has the star drag but they are proven reels If you plan on going offshore stay away from the levelwinds and consider a lever-drag

50 lb reels at $100? The only thing of that size in that price range would be the 6/0 Senators.

The best deal going right now is penn 330 combo at boaters world ,$99 bucks, rod is free at that price and is a great rockfish or bay trolling rig!

I agree. In that price range for that class you will have to buy stolen property....I think maybe you want something that will catch a 50# fish. Then you might be looking to buy something like a the Penn 320. It might help to know what you plan to troll with it. Big heavy Mo Jos tend to be hard on the reels over time. More info would be helpful for sure. We love to help spend someone elses money dont we guys?

330's are great and will hold up over time even dragging lead. For $99 bucks you can't beat them. You could always spend more on a rod!

Over the years I have purchased almost every model of reel Penn has produced. The only ones that are still working are my 4/0's, 6/0's and my Internationals. Pulling heavy Mojo's and big umbrellas with two fish on will kill the 300 series Penns. If you are only fishing with heavy tackle a few times a year the 330's and 345's will get you through a couple of seasons. The 4/0's (113H) and 6/0's (114H) are work horses and have been proven by the charter industry. The best reel I have found that will hold up to heavy tackle trolling and be easier on the angler are the Shimano TLD 20 or 30 two speed series (regretfully they are in a whole different price catagory). The Shimanos are worth the money. Over multible seasons with fish as large as a 250 lb. Blue Marlin I have never had to service one of my TLD's. All I ever ask for are gift certificates from my wife and relatives for Christmas and Birthdays from Greentop Tackle. This year I picked up a TLD 30 II for about $50 bucks out of my pocket. Good Luck!

I have been a Penn man for 30 yrs. I have 113's that old. However, I bought four Cabela's
DepthMAster Golds w/ linecoumters and they seem to be good reels. The linecounter is the feature I was looking for, got tired of measuring and super gluing colored tapes to lines!

You can't go wrong with the 113H's and 113HSP's however.

You can get 113H reels on Penn slammer rods with from Boaters World or Bass Pro for $99.00. I have six of them and use them for stripers, blues, dolphin, etc. They are an excellent value.
