The best winds are Southwest for Lynnhaven Launch and West for Rudee. North at 10-20 could be UGLY.
I am fishing out of Rudee sat and sun on a charter. The boat is 23 ft. Right now the Noaa is saying 15-20 out of the north. I know in Jersey you can still fish tight to the beach in a very strong NW wind but North gets pretty sloppy. Thanks for your opinions

Well I am hoping it changes by the weekend. I am coming all the way from Philly and I would like to get out at least one day. I am tired of reading reports I wanna do some catchin! Thanks for the input
15-20 out of the north. You'll be a little sore the next a.m. but if you can get out of the inlet you'll be fine. Just hope that you don't have to go much ferther than sandbridge. That way you can get your limit and get back in the inlet:)
yesterday ........no need to go south. LOTS of 4 man limits were right off the ramada....i was down to owls creek all day yesterday noon to 5 pm with the boat tied to the dock installing my brand new (AND YES OF COURSE - HOME MADE) bunks on the trailor in the parking lot. must have been maintain day - several other were doing the same thing with bunks and rollers on theirs !!
Right now windguru does not agree with the NOAA marine forecast. I have been observing the differences between windguru and NOAA over the last severl months and I am finding that windguru has a higher accuracy rate. Often NOAA sticks to there forecast only to change (at the last minute) to match what windguru has been saying all week. Right now, looking at windguru's forecast, the weekend is very doable both Saturdy and Sunday with the winds shifting to North on Sunday night or Monday morning. Windguru is put together by some geeks from the land locked country of Czech Replublic which I find is rather ironic that they can put together a better marine forecast than our boys.

i look at wind guru a little bit. what do the stars mean? something wth surfing?
Jamie, I too am becoming a real time observer of winds. I know what the current forecast says the day is suppose to be and I am constantly looking at numerous indicators for accuracy. I find myself looking at flags, the tops of trees, the wind vanes on the top of sail boats and think to myself....yep...that's at least 15 knots from the north right now? It a little harder when the trees don't have leaves but you can still see the branches dancing. The funny thing about this is I still do this even though I know I'm not fishing. The wife will say, what are you staring at. I'll say the top of that tree. She'll say why and I'll say to see how hard the wind is blowing and what direction. She'll say but we are not fishing today are we...and I'll say no. But she is almost as bad as me, she will see some birds going nuts in a parking lot and for a moment get excited before realizing we are in a parking lot. It's just becomes an intinct I guess. People not ate up with this do not understand.![]()
