Elizabeth City, NC

I am still searching for place in North Carolina that affords me both hunting and fishing oppurtunities. I have checked out Washington, Orienatal, Havelock, Morehead City and a few others. I was looking at the map and saw Elizabeth City yesterday. It seems perfectly placed and possilby affordable. Can anyone give me an insight as to the fishing and hunting? So many potential choices and trying to pick one that balances great fishing and hunting is more of a difficult job than I thought. I would consider myself 51% vs %49 in my like for fishing vs. hunting the mighty Whitetail with a bow. I would like to move next year if all goes according to schedule. Please, everyone who has a suggestion please respond. It will be nice to be thinking of all those days fishing and hunting in a nicer place than Southeastern PA.....yuck!

Bass fishing in that area is good - if you like river fishing (which I do) - many options - spring and fall are the best times - the summer can be tougher until you learn your way around - the Pasquatank at E. City, the Perquimmans at Hertford, the Chowan at Edenton/Ahoskie, the North at Coinjock are the ones I usually fish - and they are all different.
I know there is good hunting in the area for ducks, bear, deer, quail and dove - but, I don't go - limited public land available - hunting clubs are there, mostly for deer.

There are some public lands around but most everyone belongs to a hunt club. Saltwater fishing is great as well. Chesapeake Bay is less than an hour away and Oregon Inlet a little over an hour away. The Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds are great for Rockfish in fall.
I live about 15 miles north of Elizabeth City and love it although I fish exclusively.

Swan Quarter NC hunter and fishermans paradise. But that is all that is there. We have tons of deer, black bear, ducks fresh water lake and sit on the pamlico sound close to hatteras and ocracoke inlets.
