I am rigging a Pursuit 3000 and don't want to choke the cockpit with a chair so intend to install a rocket launcher. Looking for recommendations as I have researched products from Murray Brothers, Nautical Design, Pompanette, Fishkatcher Industries, and Tracy. Some of these run as much as a chair and I don't want to break the bank but don't want trash either. A gimbal attachment is also preferred for the gentler crewmembers. The Tracy looks like a decent choice... Any feedback on the Tracy...or others? Joe
Joe, not sure if this helps you or not, but the boater's world in Newark, De has a simple, compact fighting post with 4 rod holders, rigging shelf and fighting gimble on the front on sale for $499, was $799. They will ship it to a BW closer to you if you're interested. I've been eyeing it up my last few trips there, but it just won't fit on my 27' cat.
I have a GW330 Express w/o a chair and have checked out most of the ones you have listed. IMHO, I'm partial to Murray, but that's my preference and discretionary income, the latter being what matters most to some folks, not discounting functionality.
Be interested in what you go w/ and a pic after installed. Lastly, I'm sure you checked to ensure that you have a reinforced portion of your deck underneath? That was the first thing I confirmed w/ the manufacturer if you're not able to see it.
Best,
Evan.
Oh man do I have something for you! Release Marine 8 rod rocket launcher, 2 yrs old only used one season cause we put a chair in and I gotta get rid of it. Let me see if I can find a pic.
I have the Nautical Design launcher with the gimbal. The ND Launcher comes with an adjustable pedestal that can be raised or lowered to fit the angler. It is a real nice piece with a stainless pedestal. I am very happy with it. Although not as pricey as the Release Marine version still pretty pricey, but very nice and well built.
Hroonk...thanks for that tip. I called them and that is the Tracy launcher. I need to call them back when the boss is in.
Longfin...that is a good looking setup but too wide. I need the gimbal as my wife fishes with me a lot and that is one of her few requests. Joe
