Way to stay after'em Jack. What do you do to keep the slocum on the hook??? I'd heard of putting a spring on the hook shank.
Deepdrop and myself still hadn't had enough from sat. and the weather forecast for the day was worth another shot at some togs. We left O.C. at 0730 and headed n.e. to the spot where we left them biting sat.. Upon our arrival to the mark everything was perfect;sunny skies, warm breeze and very little current. We got the hook in first try on a nice piece that looked real fishy. Lines in and started catchin. The bite was good for about 2 hours then slowed. As things slowed I started using one of Otis' spring rigs with slocum and caught a couple more. We ended up with 7 nice tog's up to 6 lbs. most on crabs and 1 3lb. bass on clam. Beautiful day on the water except the bumpy ride back.;) ;)

Al you are right Otis Ricks uses screen door springs it works well and I have had him wear everyone's butt out using them. The slocum will catch fish when the bite has stopped with other baits. Hey by the way do you know or anyone else know how to report a tagged fish? I caught a tagged tog yesterday. Thanks JACK
Call Claude/Anne with the tag number @ VSWFT... I don't have the number. Did you keep the tag? If so, there's an 800# on the tag itself.
What is a spring rig?
Thanks Al;I have the tag ;I didn't see the number I guess I better put the reading glasses on this age thing is beginning to really suck!! TH rather than trying to explain it go to Ocean's East on northhampton blvd. Otis ties the rig for them to sell. If you are not cloce to o.e. let me know and I'll post a picture of it.
