One word J & B Rods in Virginia Beach. He makes a great rod for a real good price and they last forever.
You will not want to go over 6' footers if you are doing just stand up fishing and get the stand up butts. Also if you get all rollers. Get the Big Foot Aftco Rollers. The smaller ones tend to hang up on offshore Swivels and knots.

Give my dad a call...Capt Steve'e custom tackle @ 757-484-8164...tell him steve jr. sent ya...he'll make you some fine rods....
I also second surfperch on the guides....Bigger the better....For wind on leaders and when using a super small spo swivel for a flyfish danggler...on your long rigger lines...
I have a custom stand up made by J&b rod.I only used it once.I will give you a good price.b-mail if interested.
For standup fishing used 5'6" to 6' max. I would also recommend all ring guides (better for use with wind on leaders). And if you really want the latest, have them built with a spiral wrap guide pattern. Mine are GREAT and I perfer them to my standard guide placement rods for standup fishing.
Reel Life has a great opinion with using the ring guides. I have switched over almost all of my rods to Fugi ring guides and have a Big Foot roller guide at the tip. The reason for this the rings let free flow of line, knots and swivels. The roller guide helps when at an angle to the knots and swivels to flow threw. Ring guides will hang sometimes at the tip when you get a fish close to the boat.
I am not sold on the spiral wrap guide pattern.
