I headed out on my dock at 11pm this evening and saw THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of bloodworms swimming all over the surface. They of course concentrated under the dock lights. Can I assume this is a common occurance every year? I am on Cranes Creek off the Great Wicomico. Is it normally this time of year? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I caught about 200 with 2 swipes of a strainer.

Probably some sort of worm spawn. I know I have seen mention of it before on the boards but can't remember what exactly it was
I believe they're called may-worms and can be found out in the main stem of the bay also. Rockfish gorge on them to the extent of ignoring artificials. It's a seasonal thing. I'd guess they would make excellent bottom fishing bait.
chesapeake_angler.......send me your phone number and I can call you if they are back tonight. How the heck would you set up a farm? They are all about 1" but 1 in 200 are about 2-3 inches. Very small.
