Was at Deer Creek on sat for the first time. Came armed with a few flies and a sink tip. arrived to a bazillion people. Found some water up stream and strung up, not knowing how to catch shad. Met a fellow named Joe from the ?Hereford flyfishing club? before I even got to the water. he took the time to rig my leader and spot me a couple of his flies he twisted up. Then he put me in the river right into fish. first 3 drifts were 3 fish. Thanks Joe for speeding up the learning curve and showing me the ropes. I usually fish solo and avoid the crowds, but the conversation and encourangement from Joe was an unexpected gift. I also met Wayne B for the second time. It was a pleasure as well. Oh the rest of the day was spent walking the river and constant pullage. It was a neat experience for an overworked man with so few days off. If you see a pink 1970 vw bug, thats Joe's and make sure to stop for some advice. He might even let you crowd in his spot in the river. Please handle those shad with care. They waited all year and traveled a long way for a little action. Lets not be the nagging third wheel.
Peace out,
Greg
No problem Greg,
I live right here in Havre de Grace and went up to the stream tonight and could not get a place to park............even if I did the stream had as many fisherman as it did fish.....shoulder to shoulder.
Not good when you live here and can't even fish the stream.
Glad to help you out all I could. Send me a PM, yours is turned off.
