    Default Fletcher's slowish yesterday

Took a kid and his Dad fishing at Fletchers yesterday...they are occasional fisherman, but not serious, so I just wanted to get them into some fish. The water was stained and not looking great, but I managed to scrape up some hickories, herring, white perch, and one big channel cat for the kid on Fishbites Bloodworms.

So I think they had fun, each caught about a dozen fish of 3-4 different species, gotta love a Dad and his son going fishing together.

Before they showed up I threw the fly rod for an 90 minutes and managed about 6 hickories, including one huge slob that went 21" No Americans.

I think tomorrow is gonna be perfect, give the water another day to clear...Tuesday is the day, fellas. GET OUT THERE before the end, which I fear is coming.

    Here's my fishing log:

    Date/Time: 4/28/07, 6:00am-12pm

Location: Fletcher’s Cove, from a boat

Weather: Sunny, 60-75 degrees, increasing NW wind to 15-20 mph

Tides: High @ 8:00a, so fished rising to slack high, then falling
LF gauge @ 4.7’ and falling

    Gear: 7-wt w/ LC-13 shooting head (27’)
Best fly = gold/bronze flashy Kreelex

    Water Quality:Stained, vis 12-16”
    Temp = 16C, SpC = 263 uS/cm

Report: At dawn/low light, okay hickory action…caught 5-6 on gold spoons and gold/bronze Kreelex fly.
After 8:00am, slow action, occasional hickories on gold spoons (mostly) and darts dangled in current aft of boat.
Occasional run of large white perch on gold spoons.
    Perch also on bloodworm fishbites
One big channel cat on fishbites BW
LOTS of herring on shad spoons and darts

Glad I missed the Casting Call weekend... I forgot all about it. I too am looking to start at Fletchers from shore early Tuesday morning. Should be clear enough by then.
