    Default Cool Bubbles

I have been catching some creek minnows behind the house and I am looking for an inexpensive way to keep them frisky throughout a day of fishing. I have a small center console and I use the little livewell for storage. Does anyone have experience with any "Cool Bubbles" products or is it easier to just put the minnows in a basket and let them sit at the side of the boat?

I use it and the minnows get so much O2 it's like they're on "greenies". The latter is a baseball term for amphetamines

I have used the insulated bucket and pump combo for about 6 or 7 years in fresh and salt water, works great although sometimes I have to smack the side of the pump to get it going, may have something to do with the years of salt water use. The insulated bucket is great during the summer to keep from boiling the bait, once in a while drop a few ice cubes in the water. It was pricy but I have gotten plenty of use from it.

If you use the cheap D-Cells the pump does not run as fast but still gets a long run time.

    are they bull minnows??

if so, try putting some ice in a cooler with newspaper or burlap over it (so the minnows don't freeze), lay the minnows on top.. they'll go into a dormant state and will wake up when you put them in the water. Some will die, but the majority of them will be fine.

I bought this minnow bucket because I thought it would hold up better than a foam bucket.

I have used cool bubbles for about four years and never had a problem with the minnows staying alive and active.

Looks like that you and KJR have proved my theory wrong about a foam bucket not being as durable as a plastic one.

I had thought that they would chip or crack easily. Guess not. I may try one the next time I need a new bucket.

I Put 3 Or 4 Dozen In My Insulated 5 Gal Cool Bubbles And Fish All Day With No Problem. I Bring The Minnows That I Dont Use Back And Put Them In My Holding Cage In The Creek Behind My House. I Feed Them A Few Crabs Every To Or Three Days And They Stay In In Good Shape Untill I Need Them Again.
