Headed about 25 miles off yesterday (Sunday the 10th). Didn't get set up till about 10, fish in the slick by noon. Constant brown and small blacktips with interspersed bluefish for about 4 hours. I think we released a total of 8 sharks. Then, at 4:00 we had a real good runoff and since my father the captain had not yet caught a fish we convinced him to hop in the chair. This fish was cruising and forced me to fire up the engines to keep him from going around the front of the boat. He rolled at the back of the boat, I saw purple and ran down the bridge for the flyer. 5'9" and 118 pounds. Water temp was 67.4 most of the day, mako was caught offshore of the Jackspot in 16.5 fathoms. Got a crappy cell phone pic, I'llget some better ones this afternoon. Go get em guys!

. Skip
Congrats! Nice fish!
Yeah, not bad for a 66 yr old who's had 2 back surgeries in the past year! He deserved it, all those hours he and I spend watching everyone wind in fish. We always tell people that we catch the fish, all you do is wind em in. It was nice to watch him wind one in for a change.
