Default Late Report - June 10th in the Deep

We were blown out Sat., but had a gorgeous day on Sunday. Headed straight out from Marathon and found a 1"x2"x6' piece of lumber and proceded to find our first school just 10 miles from the beach. Awesome !! Fishing for pelagics within site of land !!! We hit 4 from that school, but nothing to keep. That was the basic scenario for the day, small fish. Found a good patchy weed line at 19 miles and hit several schools, no keepers. Went further out and had a nice weedline at 25 miles without much action, headed back and the bite had died at the previous weedline.

It was great getting out there, but that 20" FLA limit is tough at times. Don't know how those charters do it.

Is this rule not enforced or are there a ton of releases going on ? We did keep 4 that were hooked deep, even with circles.... I hate poaching, but better in my belly than the bottom of the ocean.

Lotsa charters all around us at 19 miles. Ton of people catching, but I can't imagine they were keeping. Every school was the same cookie cutter fish, 17" - 19".

We had a blast and special thanks to Capt. Bob for all his help and info. What a great asset to TF !!

Oh well, back to my 35 + mile run to the fishing grounds ..... :-(

Patrick, You have to love the close in fishing down especially when the bite is on. I hear there is a good bite in the canyons right now so get ready for those 60 mile runs. Wish we had the fish they have down there only 20 miles out.
SO MANY FISH, SO LITTLE TIME
