A milk crate did not fit in my tankwell either (OK Scupper Pro). Here is what I did:

Just picked up my Tarpon 120. Trying to rig the milk crate for the back and it seems a little to big. Milk crate measures 13"x14". Is this what other folks have or are there truly 13"x13" crates out there that i just can not seem to find. Also any tips on how anyone has it secured once in would be great or other outfitting tips. I am just starting to do the outfitting. I have paddled for years but this is my first SOT and first kayak that will be primarily for fishing. Be gentle!

I've got a Tarpon 120 also, and my milk crate fit fine. I don't have it's measurements with me, but it is square, not rectangular, so I assume it must be 13"x13."
I "liberated" my crate from the loading dock of my dorm way back in college, so it's actually sized for milk containers, and not one of those ones you can buy for storing non-milk stuff. I recommend looking for a square one if you can (tackle a milkman?)
I attach my crate with 2 carabiners to the bungie cord rigging. It's a little low-tech, but I can quickly detach it. I also tie down the gear inside or enclose it in a drybag attached to the crate si I don't lose all the stuff inside if I dump.
Have you tried a 5-gallon "mud" bucket back there instead of the crate? I think they fit, too.
7-11 milk crate will fit.
Sand Tiger,
Saw your earlier post and went to Kmart and they were out. I took the crate i had and ground down the corner and a little of one othe edge and made it fit. Fip tied in a two rod holder last night and went for a paddle. Was going to fish until i saw some cownose rays feeding in 1-3 feet of water. Watching them chase crabs was to much fun. Thank you all for you ideas. Any other lessons learned rigging my Tarpon will be greatly appreciated.
