BIG EYE BLAST!!! (w/pics and video enjoy)
After deciphering the reports and satellite shots I decided to fish out of OI on Sunday. Chris (outcast_), James (jmet), Eric (Fishman) and I. We left the inlet just after daybreak using the crack and headed to the 650 at 100 fthms and put lines out in 75.9 degree lifeless looking water. Trolled northwest with a spread of all big baits at 8:30 we had our first fish on at the 660 in 60 fathoms. Turns out to be a nice 35 lb YFT, came on a pink and white Ilander Jr. with a horse ballyhoo. A couple of pics later, spread back out and at about 9:45 the planer trips and starts singing, a nano-second later the stbd. short and port long go down simultaneously and with authority, my 50 wides sounded like fly reels. One and a half hours later we boat the third of the three fish, all were just over 100 lbs. Unfortunately Eric’s fish got bit in half by a huge shark just before it came to the gaff.
Fished the 660 in 60 fathoms 75 –76 degree water, all horse ballyhoo, fish were marked deep just before hitting our spread, first one came on the planer with a Baitmasters Wahoo special (double hook rigged horse ballyhoo on wire).

Cool beans. Congrats. OI was a good choice.
Great catch and report!! Can I borrow the horseshoe for a trip or two?
Just goes to show swimming in the Atlantic could be dangerous to your health!
That was a big shark to eat a huge eyeball
Yeah that mouth was not small. Might be interesting to show those pics to a shark expert to get a guess at species and size.
Great bigeyes! Someday...
