2 Whites & 3 Sails
This is the way I interpret the report from Pirates Cove for June 27 2007 that these fish were brought to the dock ! WOW I was under the assumption that if you are not MONEY fishing that these fish are typically released after some quick photos .They clearly state that some fish were released but sails and whites were brought in .Say it is not so ----Please, I must not be reading the report correctly
Fish are fish are fish, and these were legal fish but if the fleet makes a habit of this, there won't be any left...
Reminds me of fishing in a less developed country...
Marlins on the RUN!!

The offshore charter fleet had an awesome catch today! Ya’ Mamma brought back boxes full of Mahi-Mahi and our Samanna came back with a huge White Marlin and a Sailfish. The Bi-Op-Sea pulled in a Bull Dolphin and also loads of Gaffers. Hot Reels brought in a citation Whit Marlin and tons of Gaffers. Our best catch of the day came from the Obsession with a Joe Osinchak and his wife Sandy from Cappin, New Jersey who amazingly pulled in a 250 pound Marlin, a White Marlin, and a Sailfish which were released. His wife also came in with two Sailfish and about 8 dolphins…the best part is they are 70 years old, quite the GRAND SLAM!!
Our near shore boats also had a good day with the Little Jeanie racking up on Mackerels, and the Sea Hunter loading our docks with King Mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and Bluefish. Another near shore boat, the Mugger, continued to bring in the King Mackerel’s also. Last, but surely not least, our Inlet boat, the T-Time, brought us a box full of flounder!

They had a dead little sailfish on the docks at OI last Friday. Cap said they kept it cause it was the kids first fish he was twelve. What a way to teach a kid!!!! We asked if it came up dead and they said nope. Man that was just wrong you know it ended up in the dumpster or were they gonna haul it back to Jersey in the back on the family truckster.
i see the reports say brought back or came in with, but do they actually kill bills for no reason down there?
Before you start slamming the fleet, realize it may have been the anglers decision. If your client has the right to keep a fish legally and wants to, how can you say no? I would guess 99% of the fish are released and the people who keep them have no clue. Lastly, and I know this gets brought up everytime, the real problem isn't charter fleets. Its the long liners. a billfish here and there by the charter fleet has relatively no impact in the fish population and sustainability.
ps Report was wrong. Bad choice of wording. Is it ever right? All released. Check out this...

It is going to happen from time to time, it is good that these days it is the exception...at least with rec fishermen.

There is no excuse to keep billfish just to do some chest bumping on the dock. Just becuse some idiot at NMFS says its leagal dosen't mean its the right thing to do. For years its been legal to longline for swordfish and bluefin and everything else, and look where thats has taken us. Some of these species are on the brink of extinction and still there is little to no management. It is the responsibility of the captains to TEACH proper fisheries management not cater to the almighty dollar. Especially in the case of a youngster who is just starting out. Take a picture and get a mount. There is no need to drag these fish to the docks. To reley on politicians to mange our fisheries is crazy. Its true that rec fisherman have not been the cause of these declines but I believe it is imperative to teach novice charters why you release fish. SO that maybe there children might have the same joy.
Anyway this is not a shot at anyone in particular just personal feelings.
Typical Jersey style- they all drive like sh*t and will kill anything they catch! My experience comes from leaving Richmond at 4am this morning on my way to Hilton Head and had about 6 card from NJ either up my butt or passing me doing about 90mph and then cutting right over and almost taking paint off the front bumper
