I'm going to be down in Wachapregue on some of the weekends with the family just wondering what is out 5 to 10 miles off?
What can I expect to catch and what kind of bait and takle will we need?
Thanks in advance for the help.![]()

Spadefish maybe? Possibly king macs, inshore sharks.
Thanks Russ D, I was hoping for more input. I've seen many post from people fishing out of Wachapregue. Any help would be great.![]()
Most guys out of Wah this time of year are off-shore junkies. Lots of wreck Fishing with-in 15 or so miles tog, sea bass, flounder. Lots of flounder in the channels on the way to inlet miles and miles of channels.

The flounder bite has been off lately so it's mostly gonna be like I said. Spadefish possible on the buoys King macs on the troll with maybe some bluefish and the inshore sharks if you're looking for something bigger. Sea bass will be scattered on the wrecks with triggers. Push it to 20 and maybe some dolphin and bluefin on the hills.
I have a 19 foot CC with plenty of range but not sure about going that far, don't want to get caught with pants down if weather get ugly. What would I need for Sea bass, both takle and bait.
Earlier post is correct, us Wachafishers are pretty blue water centric this time of year. The wrecks(marked on most charts) have plenty of sea bass, etc around them but are generally further than 5-10 miles. Wach is flounder heaven but I never go for them so am useless on that score.
Good luck - you might want to call Zeds or Henry's to ask about the inshore fishing.
Codfish....just got a hot tip on a new wreck REAL close to public ramp...try slip 8 at Cap'n Zed's...already attracting baitfish from the reports...good luck!![]()
Dare I ask what halfshot's shot refers to?
