    Default Susquehanna Small Mouth

I'll be fishing in a tournament next weekend up on the Susq. for some some smouth bass and was wondering was patterns might be most succesful. The tournament is in Harrisburg with a local club. Would crayfish, small Clousers patterns... work? Thanks for the help.

When there were bass in the Susq. I always did well with a brown and orange clouser or a chartressusse and yellow chystal bugger. Now a days, good luck.

One of my favorite Smallie flies is a Clouser style tied with ostrich herl instead of hair. Black has worked well for me in much of the Suskie, and most any of the other rivers in MD or PA as it makes a good leech or Helgie imitation. I tie in a few strands of flash, either Flashabou or Krystal Flash and vary it, but usually stick to silver, gold, bronze, or copper. I will occasionally mix in a little black flash.

I also like black because it works well in various water clarities, and with the storms we've had recently, if they continue into next week, you may encounter some muddy water.

Try it tied on a size 2 hook and with various size lead eyes. Big fly for big fish.

    Default Sneaky Petes (big ones)

I used a sneaky pete in a tourny up around Swatara and did real well. OH it was a regular bass tourny and me with a flyrod in my hand. Think I got 4 th place and I think the next year they outlawed fly rods.. I left the club by then..
