They must have made a typo - has to be Indian River Lagoon in FL. That, or they are just out of their minds.
The lattest Saltwater Sportsmen Magazine (August) has a fish review section that says the best and second best places to catch a certain species of fish for that month. Well for August, believe it or not, they said Indian river Inlet, DE is the second best place to catch Bonito on the fly! They said cast clousers next to buoys and jetties for awesome action. What the??!! Is there any truth to that? I thought I had to go to Acapulco for some of that action. Or way offshore?
I’ve fished there I don’t know how many times off that jetty and have never seen or heard anyone getting a bonito from there. But come to think of it, I avoid the place in the heat of the summer. Am I missing something?

You never know. I'm waiting for One More Cast to jump in and tell us about their offshore (or is it near shore) adventures in the summer.
The reason I don't think it's a typo is because the first pick was NJ. If it is true, than I'm sure they are referring to the buoys more so than the jetties. Who knows. I've heard great things about Indian River Inlet in FL but I always thought that was for False Albacore. But the two species hang out together. Who knows. I'll try anyway. Next weekend as a matter of fact.
ST-
Just for fun, stop in at Old Inlet Bait & Tackle and ask them how the bones are running...be prepared for dead silence. Actually, I stopped by there last Sunday on my way home from dropping daughter #2 off at friends for the week. Most talk in shop was of skates... but they do have a decent selection of fly tying stuff. I asked the guy if they had a fly division in the prominently advertised fall fishing tournament... he sorta chuckled.
I was trying for bonita the other day and these dang things kept eating my flies...
One after another after another.. Then I said "to hell with these weird looking things!!!" and left. Oh well... maybe next year.

OMC,
I'd thought you'd share some of your tuna/albacore stuff but maybe it's just that, offshore. Nice flouder. are they still hitting in the shallows for you or is that an earlier spring fish?
Your rod in that picture?; Does it have a long fighting but? Spey? What kind of rod is it? I"m looking for a 10 or a 10'6" "switch" rod with a long fighting but. Kind of like what Orvis Trident has but they only make the 4 piece now and that thing explodes all the time. I used to own that rod but it didn't work out because it broke on me too often but it was a nice casting rod.
Anyway, the family is making a trip down there next weekend and I hope to do a little fishing.

Jon,
There should be fluke, croaker, and snappers esp at night in the same area I fish. That fish was from about a month ago I think....
Most of my offshore buds are fishing Va Beach area or Hatteras. We haven't even gone out of De this year. Sikorski just got his first hoo and sail a few days ago.
think kayak at night... lights... for easy fishing.
That's my TFO two hander... 8wt. i like it for the beach fluke because i can mend about 40feet of line with a flick of the wrist. Helps to stay in close contact on the drift. The rod itself isn't that great... showing signs of rust and major wear on the cork. But... ya get what ya pay for..
If you were going out in your boat... I think the lightship area might be the ticket.. There's tons of fun over there though. Spades, triggers....cobia.. 8 to 12 miles off... the wind might be tough for you this weekend though.
I'd do the night thing... in the yak...
Yea, I'm going next weekend but I'm def. not taking the boat. I'll do some wading and jetty rock hoping though. Maybe a kayak trip but there's only so much time.
