flounder rigs

I was wondering what type of hooks to use for flounder rigs. What all do i need to make flounder rigs??

3/0 or 4/0 kahle hooks.

Supplies for making them all depend on what you like on your rig. For sure you'll need mono. I use plain old 50 lb, but some people prefer to use the straightened mono that comes in a sheath, not on a roll. You'll need 3 way swivels, spinner blades and clevises and beads. Beads you can buy at Wal Mart or your local arts and crafts stores like Michaels.

There's also sorts of rigs you can make. this one uses a spin and glow instead of a spinner blade and clevise.



Here's a standard one. You can buy the rivets already tied in bulk bags, or go to Lowesd and buy rivets, and tie the bucktail and mylar on yourself.



Or you can rig them up using hoochies or B2 squids.

what bait are you guys using on these? small spot large minnows??

The dressed rigs get a strip of meat, squid or flounder belly, and as big a gudgeon as I can find. The bare hooks get spot or finger mullet.

We use 5/0 or 6/0 circle hooks. No lip ripping hooksets here, just start reeling and you got him. Strips of meat, croaker, blue fish, flounder like Darren said, be patient and let them eat it...m2cw

you can also get stuff from www.jannsnetcraft.com...I like to use some of the smaller floats to keep the bait closer to the bottom(sandy) and they have a good selection...an old trick with "glow" type beads and lures is to use a "hot shoe" type camera flash to light them up...rule of thumb is "big baits catch bigger fish"...tho true 90% of the time, flatties will fool you...make a selection of different colors and configurations...sometimes plain and sometimes fancy works...give the fish a chance to eat it...I use circles most of the time, but not always...have fun...

Live bait hooks for bait fish like minnows, finger mullet and spot. For bait I like the kale hook. Use strips of squid or somr type of cut bait fish like a croaker or blurfish.
