The crew and I left Wachapregue after 5:30am on Saturday morning 8/4 due to a couple of the guys (Robin and Trey) mis-judging the road time. The rest of the crew was Fred and Bill. We fished in and around the Norfolk all day and only had a single pull on the WWB GM/Bird. The mystery fish was down to less than 1/2 a spool on the 50W before pulling the hook. This was on the N/W wall in 100 fa.
About 10 minutes before I was going to call lines in, we lucked out by having Mr Blue pile on the ballyhoo/pink seawitch on the right long . Bill make quick work on the reel and Fred did a great job on the wire. The blue hit in 50 fa right at the tip of the Norfolk. We saw very little temperature change out there and not a lot of life besides the whales and porpoises.
This is the first Blue on the Got Fish Too? and the first billfish for Bill. What a trip-saver!
Here's a link to a rough video of the action (I had to drive while taking it).

Nice fish Tim. I was in the area a little further north. Went two for four on
60 pound yellow fin, 1 dolphin, and missed a blue marlin.

Thanks all.
Nice Keith. After a couple of hours of nada, I was thinking a little to the North might have been a good choice. Glad you found them. Did you get the YFT bite right at first light?

Tim,
Yes, Left Wachapreague in the wee hours of the am. Was running from the
upper station until I cleared the sea bouy. Was met by a pretty choppy
ocean and proabably 3-4 footers and 15 knot winds. Ran the
rest of the way from the lower station. Was intent on getting getting about
15 miles below the Norfolk but given seas state at 3 am punched in a
course that had me a few miles north of the Norfolk. First bite was at
6:12, second bite at 6:21, and a few more through 8 am then Nada.

Keith,
That's what I figured. I think they're out there - just not really feeding during the heat of the day. Pretty much everyone who has landed tuna lately has got them just after dark-o-clock. I did mark a number of big fish at around 50 fa in 100+ fa water. We definately need something to change the water around - I can't believe I hoping for a big blow to turn the water over.
Tim,
Yep, Been seeing some big marks about 300-400 feet down. Have tried
to get them up but been unsuccessful at it since the late June trip. A couple of
bigeyes have been landed there. I think it's only a matter of time before
one of us gets whacked by them. Weather permitting, will make a early
departure Saturday. Looking for another boat to run with me... interested??
Departure between 3 and 4 am.

Keith,
I'm on tour with the new boat so we will be leaving to head to Sunset at OC Md this Saturday morning. I'd love to join you but the logistics don't look like they will allow a diversion like this. Let me check into what an alternative plan will do to all involved and I'll get back to you...
