    Default TFO Snapped

Spent a week up in Maine fishing the Mousam and the stripers were biting (early morning, outgoing). Unfortunately on my largest striper of the day (27") my TFO 10 weight snapped into three pieces! I didn't do anything out of the ordinary and while the current in the Mousam is strong, the rod wasn't bent over backwards or anything. As the fish was getting close so that I could grab the line, it gave one last fight and I guess turned perpendicular to the current and SNAP! All the other guys heard it down the bank and looked at me as I hand retrieved the fish and was left of my rod.
Time to contact TFO as I don't believe a 10 weight should snap like that. Went out and bought a St. Croix 9 weight as I badly needed something for the following morning. We'll see what TFO says about it.

That blows! TFO should reimburse you for having to buy the St. Croix as well.

Sorry to hear that, but you have to remember those blanks are made in Korea and the quality control on them is not to the standards of American made rods. Glad to hear you were catching them and could get another rod and get back out there.

There is no way a 27" striper should snap a 10wt i think TFO has a good warranty and will stand by thier products. I snapped a 8wt St. Criox (snagged in a tree shhh you think the 6lb tippet would of snapped first) and they replaced it free of charge just to 6 weeks to get it.

They will fix you up in a jifffy. Best company to work with in that regards.
