    Default Sunday 2nd Island

Ran out for one quick dive this morning at the second island, wanted to go elsewhere but didnt like the weather report so we stayed close. Visibility wasnt great, 10 feet at best and very warm. Not too much to shoot at but a few small spades. Still, a fun morning. Anybody on here into saltwater aquariums? Just wondering if anyone has tried to keep anything from around here.

theres got to be some market for saltwater fish, when i was in hatteras last week the dive operator stated that some people are catching and keeping lionfish to sell, they are everywhere down there.

Yep, in the past I primarily kept blennies and gobies. Small spades (1-2") are pretty cool. I've kept small jacks, filefishes, scup, and a few others.

    Default poisonous

Just a question... Aren't Lionfish deadly poisonous.. And if so, is it worth the risk to capture them just to stick them in a tank?? Just wondering........

yes they are poisonus but people catch them anyway, they are nice to look at. some of the dive operators in hatteras and morehead city think they are ruining the chance of other tropical fish out there, just a theory though. and you have heard of people collecting poisonus snakes, spiders, and scorpions right? well why not a fish!
