been pretty rough down there this year. My father had crabbed it twice. 1st time he got about a dozen. second time (about 2 weeks ago) he got about 3 dozen. Both times was an all day crabbing event. not what it usually is.
I plan on coming down next weekend to attempt my first crabbing experience in MD. I heard thre Wye should be good and is also convenient for boat rentals. Any suggestions?

The Wye River is a popular spot; However, right now, the hot spots seem to be the Bo and the Elk. I've been to the Wye 2 times this year and both times - July & August - produced less crabs than the previous 2 seasons, during the same times. The Bohemia and the Elk are producing significant catches for both comm's and rec's. The Wye always seems to be crowded even if crabs aren't crowding the river. Best Bet if you're not familiar with the Wye would be to hit the Bo or Elk, possibly even the Sassafras for a decent days catch - just my opinion. Good Luck!
I live on the wye it has been a terrible year. Ive never seen so many small crabs,
It seems to be hit or miss, miss, miss! Maybe better luck next year.
Try the Gunpowder ! It is really hot there right now !!
I hit the wye yesterday(8/23) and did rather well. Had a bushel and about 20 in another bushel basket. Was very close to the landing and was using traps. Mixed sizes from 6" to biggest 8 1/4" most were 6 1/2" to 7". It was pretty crowded for a Thursday. Good luck if you decide to hit it.
