    Default Dink-a-rama

Plenty (and I mean plenty) of dinks on the fly tonight from Thomas Point to Tolly Point. No size, but fun for awhile. Not any birds, but fish jumping out of the water for 1/2 mile or so. They were feeding on small bait, silversides or Bay Anch. It didn't make a difference if you were using Poppers (dinks) or clousers (still dinks), no quality fish tonight. It's been a couple two weeks since I caught a 20+" fish on a fly. Where are the bigger fish?

They should be heading very shallow soon. 70 degrees should be perfect or right now with a morning or evening high tide should have them hunting the shoreline. It's my favorite time of year to fish the shallows but most years I always thought it started much later. Only to realize I'd already missed the best action when I started in October. Another couple weeks for sure anyway.

They are shallow now. Full moon in a couple of days. The rockfish are hunting the softies up in the shallows.

I worked em over yesterday morning/evening 5 miles upriver. Threw a siliclone on the beach, stripped it back and found the best fish within 10 feet of shore. Biggest were 24" with very broad shoulders.

Look for deep water near shore, swept by the current.

    Default Dinks

Joe - I was out last night as well south of the south and caught dinks all over the place on everything. They must have been busting the surface all over in a mile radius. Should be a good weekend to get out early.
