OI report (late 8-24)

Fished the whale hole again. Crew was, Conner,Craig,Ron,Stan,James & me.
Stayed docked sat & sun to continue on the house project. (Thanks Joe)!!


Water had cooled off a bit, 79 & a bit cloudy. Their seems to be a reverse change from about 50fat out, with the blue hotter water shoved way inside all the way to about 13 miles off the beach.

The whales,bait & fish are still there but were just not biting much on fri.

We managed 3 tuna bites for the day with 1 never comming tight , 1 broke off (again) & 1 fatty in the box on the WWB spreader.

Also managed a big White one on the left middle. Looked like someone or something had tangled with this one before. It was missing it's entire bill almost flush with it's lower jaw tip. Conner had a heck of a time pulling out the hook & getting it into position for a good photo. She swam off strong & healthy so I guess they can still get by just fine with broken bills. (Tommy was this your dirty work) LOL.

Stan took pics but they were really bad. He used the view finder + full zoom & all I can say is, WoW he must of lost his glasses. Poor Conner struggled to get that perfect shot & all the pic shows is half & fish & half of Conners head & as for the Tuna, it was just a shot of it laying on the deck but not even facing the camera at all. We missed Beck great camera work for sure!!!

I't won't be long now till the fall air will pick the bite back up. We will be back out next weekend.

Bill...saw you out there. We were in a little blue CC with twins on the stern, but couldn't get ya on the radio. It was me, my buddy, and three girls..all were a little green. Our day was much the same. Three fat fish in the boat all before 7:30am....two lost....saw a bait ball gettin torn apart by something....looked like two sailfish....but couldn't get a bite out of em. I am glad we caught fish cause the surf was smokin that day. Good swell for about a week in Rodanthe....Later...Tilly

Yeah Tom, This sure would be a great opt for that night pull out there but it's looking like the NE flow is gonna be in place too long + pick up over the weekend.

Tillford, I was on all the channels, not sure why we couldn't hear you. Your signal output must be low. I would have someone check it out. Were you the guys that were allready out there & flying a kite when Leon & I pulled up? We were wondering if you guys had done an overnighter or had just left real early. Glad you got some bites.

Nope...we didn't have a kite but we were fishing by 6:45. Took it real slow all the way out through the inlet around 3:00 am with a couple big spotlights. I saw your boat name with the binos around 10am.
