Has anyone changed the transmission fluid in a 2001 Ford Winstar or similar Ford product.
My old Nissan Pathfinder has a drain plug in the pan and the cooling hoses had hose clamps to disconnect then to drain the torque converter.
My minivan has to have the pan dropped.
Do you need to use a sealant with the new gasket or just a new gasket?
Where should a cooling hose be disconnected from to gain access to the torque converter fluid as they look like they would have to be disconnected from the radiator ot tranny housing?

drop the trans pan change the filter make sure you take out the old gasket out of the trans you will see the new gasket already on the new filter and the gasket on the pan is reuseable so put it back up there no sealer needed then fill trans it should take about 6 qts. as far as torque convertor fluid change the only to change that is to do a flush.
Search the net for a Ford Winstar owners forum. Im sure you'll find the info you need.
Thanks for the info guys.....
Has anyone disconnected the cooling hoses..........it looks like you need a special tool?
Anyone done this before?
