There are two notable events on the respective University and Local Environmental calendars.
1. The Center for the Study of the American South is sposnoring a lecture entitled "FDR and the Environment" next Tuesday. This is a fascinating subject because the New Deal's engineering projects re-shaped (some would say ruined) many important American waterways. For more info:

2. The Haw River Assembly is sponsoring a month long series of events on the river, starting this Saturday in Bynum. The Haw River has a fascinating history, and, to borrow a current scientific euphemism, it is "biologically diverse." These events could be an opportunity for the club to establish a conversation with the group, with an eye towards participation in future events.
