Greetings from the Florida Keys! I can't even remember the last time I posted a report, so that can't be good. My wife and I bought our first house in the tail end of July and needless to say, every bit of free time was consumed by the process. Anyways, the summer fishing has been really good out back. Skinny water redfishing has been off the charts. Last week, super slicked out conditions only enhanced the magic of one of the kind of days you dream about. At the first spot, we found tailers within minutes and all we had to do was sit there for an hour and wait for the fish to come to us. As the tide came up we pushed up farther onto the bank and found reds up in the grass, in potholes and on rays. As the tide peaked the fish spread out and the sharks had them pretty nervous. Followed the water and hit our next spot. Same thing as earlier with tailers and pushers coming at us. You have to love it when the water is so slicked out you can see fish from a mile away. By the end of it all we had put over 30 fish in the boat all between 5 and 10 pounds. It was an amazing day. Most of my fishing has been well within the Everglades. An algae bloom has affected a good portion of Florida Bay and finding clean water has increased travel time. Bonefishing has been solid out back with our typical summer schools of smaller fish. Permit fishing has been tough and I think due to the green water. Tarpon fishing has been good with lots of smaller fish around. Snook fishing has been good around the bridges. I think that just about covers it. Until next time. -Pete
