    Default Opening Day...FINALLY!!!

I'm really looking forward to hitting the woods tomorrow morning for VA bow season. Have a wedding to attend in the afternoon-obviously non-hunters tying the knot Oh well...At least I'll get a morning hunt in. Good luck to everyone else out there and be safe.

Good luck...I haven't hunted VA since the late 80's...I'm a local that spent 10 long cold years in northern lower MI...I had fun with the "speed beef" up there but I didn't think it was anything special...when I got back in late 99 I didn't even think about hunting...so much had changed!!!...when I went looking in 02 for a place to hunt either they were gone or it was NO HUNTING...oh well, I still have my bow and .06...have fun...

    It was hot Saturday!!

I shot my buck from ten yards at 7:48 and decided to let him lay for an hour before getting out the tree. During that hour let four big slick heads walk then went to check on my buck. He was about fifty yards away and absolutely covered in flies by then. I think I lost five pounds in sweat cleaning him. Thanks to my four wheeler or I may have never made it out the woods. Glad to get a kill on opening morning but cant wait for colder weather.

I saw a bunch of does and a small spike but nothing really worth shooting. I did end up with the worst case of chiggers that I have ever had in my life. You would have thought that I sat on one of their nests or something. They are some mean little Bast**ds. Everyone remember thir bug spray if you are walking in tall grasses/bushes. I didn't and am paying for it now.

Let a small 6 walk, which later busted me, wish I had shot him all the blowing he was doing. Drilled a doe at 10yrds, fresh meat. Afternoon was horrible, sweated and got ate up by skeeters, did let mom and 2 fawns go, saw 3 gobblers, no shot. Going across the street now, first time since sat, lil windy, colder, should b good.....video taped 4 huge bucks a month ago across the street, may fall out the stand if I see em in bow range....
