    Default Kings 10OCT07, Sandbridge

I took my dad out fishing today, and the fish didnt dissapoint.

We found the bait just below the firing range, made 3 throws, the first went in the livewell, the second went to ric burnley and his new boat (nice rig by tthe way), and the third we into a bucket for chum/chunks for another trip. the bait wasd in the breakers, 8-12 ft of water.. we had about 50 or so each throw.

We got the bait squared away and put the hammer down and headed to the south. We ran down to the pier and set out, 5 rods, 1wwb-yelow duster, the long was a pink duster, the flatline were naked menhaden, and fished one deep, blue and white duster, all frisky.
    menhaden.

We worked from the pier down to about 2-3 mile below the pier, from the 40ft edge to the breakers, and everything in between. Ric called me and said they had just gotten into a school of reds, so I made a U-turn and headed back towards him. I cut inshore hoping to get a red for my dad, but we didnt, we found kings!!!!

our bites came from 14 to 20ft about a mile below the pier, first bite was the wwb, my dad found a nice 10-12 pound king, and he was soon enjoying the darkness of my fish box....sweet, dad done got him one.

well we regoup, get everything straightened out and run back thru the same area again, I messing with the riggerlines and bubba shows up. one of my flatline gets skyed on, and I got to see the whole thing. I freespool the remnnats of the bunker and he comes back...HOOKED UP!!!! one smoking run,and we get a good look at him, swimming with my king are 2 others, that looked to be in the 20 pound class, one short run and dad finds home with the gaff. A nice 36-2 king is now on deck. SWEET, ITS PAPERTIME.

I quickly realized that a 50inch king aint going in my fish box....so we stuffed as much in ther as we could, about 2/3 of him...maybe.

We kept working the area for an hour or so and finally met up with Ric and Roger again, but didnt put the hooks in anything, but did have several runs, had a few pogys get cut in half, but onebody stuck around long enough to get the hooks.

We pulled the plug at noon and headed out to maybe scare upa cobia or some triggers, but didnt find any love on the bouys.....oh well, theres always next time.

finally got the old name removed.

my dad with his king, 10-12 pounds.

my king, 36-2 at the scales.

Danny - great day for sure... congrats. I'm pretty sure your boat is one a friend used to own... are the teak step pads on the gunnels replaced w/black starboard? Regardless, those Duskys are CHOP GRINDERS.
