Default What scent do you use for deer?

I have used TINKS 69 in the past with limited results. I got me a couple bottles of STANDING ESTRUS for the rut this year.

What do you use? How do you use it, scent bombs, spray it on the ground or other?

Do you use a cover scent? I spray down with scent away and use dirt wafers.

    I use "Scent Free"

Although in the past I have used Tinks 69 on both drag rag and in film canisters with cotton balls. Never really had any problems although never had anything follow me in hot either.

A friend uses Code Blue around Westminster with dismal even disastrous results. Thi sguy has used Tinks with pretty good and safer (although still spooks a few) results.

Like I said I used to use tinks have gave it up many years ago preferring to let the deer do what they do. Not saying secnts don't work, I just prefer to leave them unalarmed as to anything not 100% natural to them, that being real deer.

Urine based scents are "iffy" because they are a product of the environmnet from which drawn. A deer being fed on a farm eating corn and soy bean will produce certain odors, and when used in deep woods or around nothing but grass and acorns, the scents don't add up. Deer ain't stupid, especially the ones (Bucks) that you're trying to lure with scents.

I have had better generalsuccess with sound attractants, especially grunts , when used sparingly, at the right time. We're getting there.

    Just my preference.

I can understand the scent thing with the different food types but when and how often do you grunt or use a doe bleat? Do you prefer one of the primos cans for the bleat or use a call. I have one of the small cans and it seems to screw up everyonce and awhile and instead of a smooth sound you get a real short bleet??

Thanks in advance for the info.

Scent Away...head to toe, Red fox urine on my boats, Clothes when not in use stay in a bag of cedar chips. I use calls alot and have killed many deer with them. I tend to lean towards a doe bleat more than a grunt tube. I called in an eight pointer a couple years back with a doe bleat that was well over 300 yards away in a bean field. Brought him to 50 yards and double lunged him with my Knight.

Bow hunting this year called a spike to with in 15 steps and drilled him.

I pretty much do the same as everyone else but I use M.A.D calls. I love them Drury Brothers! They produce more than just a hunting video, they actual try an educate the viewer. I use their doe bleat and the buck growl calls. I don't use the buck growl for the growl but I use it for the deep grunts that it produces. It sounds great and you can control the pitches by simply covering the end with your hand. I however use just human scent sprays and no other scents. I have never had any success with deer lures and like anything else it does in fact have a shelf life. The manufactoring is ultimately trying to make money and could careless if you kill a big buck. I think they are hoaxes. If you spend alot of time in the woods and the woods your are hunting in have big bucks, then it will be a matter of time.

Just how many ducks come in vs deer?

Tinks #69 tried others and went back to it! Drag rag bottom & of soles, then 3 film canisters appx 20" off the ground appx 10-15 yards around the tree I'm going to be in. Calls 1 bleat from the can followed by 3 grunts every 15 to 20 min.

Scent eleminator on everything when I leave the truck. I spray doe pee on the ground and scuff my rubber boots in it and leave it at that. I have tried everything at one time or another and have never had a mature buck come to any scent, lots of small ones. As far as a call goes I use a grunt a little and have grunted in a few good ones. They have to be in the right mood.
