Default 10/13/07 Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report

    10/13/07 Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report
By Capt. Jim Brincefield d/b/a “Jil Carrie” Charter Fishing

WOO HOO! 2 days in a row out fishing! Our good customers Mr. Johnny Crudup of Baltimore, MD and Mr. David Crudup of Asheville, NC organized the trip for 6 anglers. Today was a full day (8 hour) Bay trip. The weather was beautiful today but the fishing was only fair. I guess you can't have great weather AND great fishing at the same time? Mr. T.J. Reiber of NOVA served as 1st Mate today.

We started at the SBC and 1st island portions of the CBBT as we did yesterday. These locations yielded a smattering of a mixed bag of assorted sized Norfolk Spot and Atlantic Croaker ("Hardhead"). We also caught a few undersized Black Sea Bass, a ton of undersized Gray Trout ("Weakfish") with a few keeper (barely) Weakfish, and a couple of undersized Flounder which were released. We also caught a Clearnosed Skate (released), several small Snapper Bluefish, and a few Pigfish. Oh yeah, we also released a bunch of hideous MILF's.

So, we moved up The Bay to Ocean View and all we caught was small Hardhead. Then, we decided to move on up in the James River to the HRBT and finally the MMBT. It was a good move. We caught some more small Black Sea Bass but we also caught a lot more Hardhead and Spot and they were the largest of the year so far. It seems strange that these fish are still up in the rivers this late in the season, but the warm weather seems to have kept them up there. We also caught some more Pigfish and a few Pinfish. More MILF's too - TJ's favorite...

Another rare [ fill in the blank ] Puffer. Capt. Danny says it's a "Southern". so I will defer to his expertise
