Default wye riv. sat 20th report

went down and crabbed the afternoon tide.2-600 ft trot lines one chick one eels and 4 topless traps. score 3 small crabs that we sent back to river.baits pretty as when we started, untouched like new. therefore i failed to find any crabs .tryed out to mouth of wye. than up wye river proper to split. than shaw bay got a pass than over by grannery creek. they were not dropping off or the bait would have been eaten. but there are crabs there if your as skilled as CRABBERLIG whom went out same time as us and was back at ramp at same time [unplanned] or i would have tailed him. they did vary well and i will let him give up as much info as he see's fit to share but he had more than 3 crabs cause i saw his catch. as always it was cool to meet and put a face to a name from TF bd. i forgot to ask how the fishing was cause i felt bad enough without him showing some big striper or somthing. oh and nice rig you guys got .

    Don't feel bad......

I was out on Thursday and against my better judgement I went to the Potomac side instead of the PAX....( I was just being LAZY and didn't want to travel 15 minutes vs. 10).........and I got what I deserved......5 crabs

I had 1200' of line and was just messing around killing time ...(like it woulda' mattered ). I was out for about 2 hours and moved the line 3 times and covered about 8 miles....and depths from 4' to 14'........
A guy coming in when I was going out caught 1 crab....that's right ONE......so I knew I was gonna score and make him look bad ...................WRONG

Sounds like you may have been too deep. Seen a lot of posts recently where folks are assuming the crabs are moving deeper. Not the case. Still catchin em in the Wye 6-8 ft.

    Johnfishes,
10-4 on shallow. I didnt go this weekend but intend to next. It just has not been cold enough to send them deep yet IMHO.
Ill do the 3 rows of 10 ctpx each in varying depths though until I find the right depth.

It aint over. Ill go Miles, BTW.
If you don't go, you won't know and you gotta have bait in the water!

It was nice meeting up with you at the Wye Saturday afternnon. Sorry to see you guys didn't score real well. I guess the traps were the ticket. A lot of guys were complaining last week about drop offs so we left the line home.
I guess we were lucky and dropped our traps right on thier heads. We ended up with 74 jimmies and a handful of sooks (throw backs), the jimmies added up to about a bushel and a quarter. Several in the 7.5 to 8.5 size.
No problem with telling you our location. We were on the bridge side just short of the turn before you woud circle around into Shaw Bay. Caugth them in every depth from 8' to 18'.
We also did real good Thursday morning about a quarter mile short of that area. Sorry that I don't know the name of the coves and rivers. For you guys that know the area there is a small commercial boat ramp there.
Good luck everyone, I would say we still have a good month left.

    B-dog,

Just one postscript, no stripers just perch and little spot. Hope to see you guys again out there. Since we live close by maybe next year we can hook up for a trip. Good luck again.
