Garmin Sounder Issues

Having problems with GSD 22 which is a digital sounder in the 3210 network bundle. I am not getting any fish marks at all and having problem with dpeth reading in some cases, it will just start blinking. I have been out probably 6 times and not marked one fish on the sounder. It is hard to believe there no fish in the bay. I will take any suggestions, kooky or not. My first thought is maybe the network ethernet is corroded as it has been open to elements since I installed but would like to know any else has had this issue.
